The 2023 AIPG-TX West Texas Field Trip Deemed a Success by All Participants

The happy geologists shown in the above photo have indicated that the AIPG-TX West Texas Field Trip was a success all around. The field trip was under the able leadership provided by Bruce Darling, Ph.D., P.G., C.P.G., Michael Jacobs, MS, P.G., and Phil Goodell, Ph.D., UTEP Dept. of Geological Sciences, supported by Bruce Handley, P.G., C.P.G., the Health & Safety Manager for the trip. The weather was outstanding; the accommodations were fine; the food was as expected; and the guidebook materials that were distributed will be consolidated into a publication by AIPG in the next few months. The AIPG-TX Field Trip to West Texas Still Has Space Available and Open for Registration

Henry M. Wise, P.G., C.P.G. announced today that the AIPG-TX Field Trip to West Texas to begin on April 20th through April 23rd is still open for registration. Click (here). The AIPG-TX Guidebook is Nearing Completion for the April 2023 Field Trip in West Texas

The 2023 AIPG-TX Field Trip to west Texas will cover subjects such as economic geology (gold & silver, and rare earths), hydrogeology and structural geology. SIPES Field Trip to the Palo Duro Canyon – May 3 to 5, 2019

To All AIPG Members: Here is the announcement on the SIPES Dallas Field Trip to  the Palo Duro Canyon. Dr. Holbrook (TCU sedimentology professor) has been instrumental in getting this field trip together. He has a graduate student, Grayson Lamb, who has been studying the Dockum Group in the canyon for his master’s thesis. AIPG National Executive Committee Meeting Held in San Antonio, Texas

The AIPG National Executive Committee Meeting was held on February 2nd in San Antonio, Texas. State hosts for the meeting included: Henry M. AAPG Total Solar Eclipse Seminar & K-T Boundary/Impact Crater Field Trip Guide, Casper, Wyoming – August 18-22, 2017

This Seminar and Field-Trip Guide was compiled by Doug Cook who gathered the materials discussed during this Seminar and Field Trip. The primary objective of the seminar was to observe the total solar eclipse that passed over the Casper, Wyoming area. Side field trips were also taken to observe impact craters and K-T boundary in outcrop. 2017 AIPG Texas Section Field Trip Postponed to Spring, 2021 – Planning Underway

Final Announcement of the 2017 AIPG Texas Section Field Trip to Uranium Country in South Texas / West Texas to Visit REE Mine Henry M. Wise, P.G., C.P.G., President of AIPG Texas Section, announced today that after detailed discussions with the five uranium mining companies having exploration/recovery operations in south/west Texas,  the AIPG Texas Section Board has decided to postpone the uranium field trip to south Texas indefinitely (circa spring of 2022?). Post-AIPG Texas Section Field Trip Guidebook Now Available & the EMD Uranium Committee Has Released it’s Uranium FAQ

Henry M. Wise, P.G., CPG, President, Texas Section of the AIPG, announced today that the Guidebook accompanying the 2016 Field Trip to Central Texas has been revised to include field-trip photos and expanded coverage of topics. AIPG Texas Section Field Trip to Central Texas a Success!

Aside from dodging a few raindrops, the central Texas field trip was enjoyed by all! 25 participants including members of the Premier Silica mining operations near Brady, Texas joined the field party over the 2-day event. Many photos were taken and new information has been uncovered that will be incorporated in a Post-Field Trip Guidebook revision that will be made available to the participants and the geoscience community online via a PDF in the near future.
