The AIPG-Texas Section was well represented at the recent, well-attended, AAPG Workshop on Energy Resources in Houston, Texas at the popular Norris Conference Center. Mr. Henry Wise, P.G., C.P.G., President of the AIPG-TX Section, reported that the Scholarship Awards Program recognized 30 students from University of Houston and from Rice University and other students from University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at Dallas, and Sam Houston University were among those attending the Workshop.

The students presence reflect their interest and dedication to advancing their professional development within the fields of geoscience and energy, providing them with valuable opportunities to engage with industry leaders, broaden their professional perspectives, and to deepen their understanding of the challenges and innovations shaping the geoscience profession today.

On behalf of the AIPG, Mr. Wise extended appreciation to Dr. Susan Nash, Director of Energy Solutions of the AAPG ,for producing this workshop and for offering industry Sponsorships to encourage ongoing collaboration between the industrial geoscience and academic geoscience communities.

In addition to Mr. Wise, Mr. Bruce Handley, P.G., (Member of the AIPG-TX Board of Directors) and Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., C.P.G., (Vice President, AIPG-TX ) were also present. Mr. Campbell presented the only summary of uranium exploration and development methods applied in Texas and on the Demand/Production needs for uranium to fuel SMRs and MMRs and advanced large-scale nuclear plants in Texas in the foreseeable future, especially to fuel the rapidly expanding AI Data Centers currently under constructions and for those in the planning stage.
