AIPG National Executive Committee Meeting Held in San Antonio, Texas
The AIPG National Executive Committee Meeting was held on February 2nd in San Antonio, Texas. State hosts for the meeting included: Henry M. Wise, P.G., C.P.G., President, AIPG Texas Section, who reported on the status of the Sunset Commission’s Review; Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., C.P.G., Vice-President – Eastern Texas of the AIPG Texas Section and M. David Campbell, P.G., AIPG-TX.org Webmaster demonstrated the new Texas Section management tool; Wesley McCoy, P.G., Texas Board of Professional Geologists reported on the TBPG view of the Sunset Commission’s activities to date; and Dennis Anderson, C.P.G., P.E. discussed ASBOG activities. J. L. Jones, C.P.G., of the Texas Section, contributed some observations.
A field trip was held on February 3rd – the trip visited San Pedro Springs, the original site of San Antonio, and the Canyon Dam Spillway Gorge near New Braunfels, where some incredible exposures of the Balcones Fault system and a good section of the Lower Cretaceous Glen Rose formation with sedimentary environments and dino footprints, etc. The field trip was organized by John Berry, P.G., C.P.G., AIPG Editor and Councilor-at-Large, Texas Section. The trip leader was Tom Ewing, Ph.D., Prof. Member of AIPG Texas Section and author of “Texas through Time,” a 2-year old summary of the Geology of Texas.
