Introduction & Objectives
This webpage is the home of the Texas Statewide AIPG Student Chapter. All geoscience students in Texas are invited to participate.
This Chapter, reformed in 2014, is intended to:
- bridge the distance between universities in Texas while still obtaining all the features of an individual AIPG student chapter, except of course, the one-on-one contact, as important as that is.
- provide students with various views into the professional world of applied geology, geophysics, and other related fields within the geosciences.
Existing Student Chapters at various universities in Texas are invited to also join in with the the discussions, student blog, and any other activities that might benefit Texas students, such as announcements of field trips in Texas (more), scholarships for Texas students (more), conferences in Texas (more), and sources of technical information from various fields professional geoscience (more). The social media (Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, and LinkedIn) are available on this webpage for your use.
The I2M Web Portal is also available to you free of charge. It is an up-to-date searchable source of technical and historical Internet sources on nearly every thing to do with geosciences, including energy (Fossil Fuels, Renewables, etc.), critical minerals, social issues, etc. As of November, 2024, it contains more than 14,000 records in 32 Categories. For an introduction, see (here). For the What’s New webpage, see (here).
Note: As indicated below, Roberto Reyna has been appointed to provide support and oversight of this Virtual Student Chapter in Texas. In the meantime, information for students and young professionals have been included in the following presentation (more).
The New President of the Texas-Statewide Virtual Student Chapter and Member of the Board of the AIPG Texas Section.
Henry Wise, P.G., C.P.G., President of the AIPG Texas Section, announced the appointment of Roberto Reyna, a graduate student working on a masters degree in geology at the University of Houston Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, as the new Student Councilor-at-Large for the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) – Texas Chapter. Mr. Reyna will also serve on the AIPG-TX Board and serve as President of the Texas Statewide Student Chapter. (Mr. Reyna CV).
Mr. Reyna will provide oversight and input for the general content of this web page, blog monitoring, etc. The format and content of this webpage will no doubt evolve over time. For example, below is a list of all 27 Texas universities and colleges with geoscience programs. Each school is invited to join in the activities of the Texas Statewide Student Chapter. Once you apply for membership in this Virtual Student Chapter you will be provided with ID and PW. To do so, you will need to apply for Student Member status of AIPG (it is free to students). Join online (here).
If you have any questions about the content on this web-page, or how the AIPG can help you in your path to becoming a Professional Geologist, feel free to contact Mr. Reyna.
Also check in on the I2M Web Portal’s Education Category from time to time for matters impacting current students and young professionals (Here).
