Post-AIPG Texas Section Field Trip Guidebook Now Available and the EMD Uranium Committee Has Released it’s Uranium FAQ

Henry M. Wise, P.G., CPG, President, Texas Section of the AIPG, announced today that the Guidebook accompanying the 2016 Field Trip to Central Texas has been revised to include field-trip photos and expanded coverage of topics. It is available in PDF.

A future field trip by bus is being planned for Spring, 2017 to visit uranium mines in South Texas.  More information when available.


Also just released, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., CPG, Vice President – Eastern Texas, announced that the Uranium FAQ was produced by the Committee of Uranium, Thorium, and Rare-Earths, Energy Minerals Division (AAPG). Mr. Campbell has been the Chair of that Committee since 2004. A series of committee reports to the EMD on uranium, thorium, and rare earths are also available (more).

AIPG Texas Section Field Trip to Central Texas a Success!

Aside from dodging a few raindrops, the central Texas field trip was enjoyed by all!

25 participants including members of the Premier Silica mining operations near Brady, Texas joined the field party over the 2-day event. Many photos were taken and new information has been uncovered that will be incorporated in a Post-Field Trip Guidebook revision that will be made available to the participants and the geoscience community online via a PDF in the near future. Participation in the Field Trip by Diane Carrico, a geology student attending the University of Texas, Austin, was sponsored by I2M Associates, LLC (May 20th I2M News Release).

Dates for Field Trip to Central Texas Have Been Fixed: May 14-15, 2016

Dates for the Spring 2016 Central Texas Field Trip have been fixed. The dates will be:

Saturday, May 14, 2016 to Sunday, May 15, 2016

Final editing of the Field Trip Guidebook is also underway.

Registrants from last year’s postponed field trip will be given priority.

AIPG Texas appointment of new Secretary-Treasurer

Mr. Henry M. Wise, President of the AIPG Texas Section announced today that he has made three new appointments to the AIPG Texas Section Board during the recent monthly teleconference of the Board last week. Mr. Rick Greiner has been appointed as the new Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas Section. Mr. Matt Cowan has been appointed as the Texas Section Representative for District IV. And, Mr. Doug Hall has been appointed as the Member-at-Large for the Texas Section of AIPG.

We are very pleased to announce that our Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., CPG has been selected to receive the National AIPG Section Leadership Award for his efforts to:

  1. re-activate our Texas Section,
  2. maintain the AIPG-TX website presence through the years of inactivity,
  3. expand the website’s coverage and usefulness to the members of the Section, and
  4. pursue other Section-building activities in his role of Vice-President, Eastern Texas.

Mike has worked diligently with Texas members to get us up and running again and to expand our offerings to the Texas membership. We are now on the road to holding field trips, section meetings, and providing scholarships. Congratulations Mike!
